Membership
The Rho Delta Lambda Chapter welcomes members of the Fraternity to join us as we provide service and advocacy to our communities. Likewise, we welcome men interested to joining the Fraternity to become a member of an elite group of men that are promoting the better making of men interested in performing manly deeds to the community and promoting scholarship within and to our youth and providing love for all mankind. The information below will provide information as to how you can become a member of the chapter.
Chapter Dues
The chapter dues for RDL are $200 / year. Chapter dues should be paid by the September Chapter Meeting. Dues may be paid in one payment of $200 or in four equal and consecutive payments of $50/month beginning in September with the last payment being made in December. Dues are reduced for brothers that recently graduated from college. Please contact us for more information.

Membership Renewal or Transfer
If you are an inactive Brother in Anderson County, or surrounding areas, and you would like to become active in Alpha Phi Alpha again or if you would like to transfer your membership to RDL, please contact us using the form on the CONTACT US page and plan to attend our regularly scheduled chapter meeting held the 3rd Saturday of each month at 9:06 am. Meetings are held at the Anderson County Public Library located at 300 McDuffie Ave, Anderson, South Carolina.
Graduating College Brothers or Graduate Students: Rho Delta Lambda offers a discounted local membership dues plan to allow you to stay active with the Fraternity after completing college. This discount is in addition to the discount offered by the Corporate office for your Grand Tax. Please contact us and plan to attend our chapter meeting. We look forward to you joining us.
How to Become an Alpha
Becoming a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity requires an investment of your personal time, talents, and money. We are not looking for candidates who are not interested in serving the communities in which they live. We are not seeking candidates who do not take academic excellence seriously. Most importantly, We are not interested in individuals whose actions will put the organization’s brand and well-being at risk. This ship does not need anchors.
An Alpha Phi Alpha member’s greatest interest is outside himself. We value those who believe that their membership in Alpha Phi Alpha is the presentation of their personal commitment to time-valued words such as KNOWLEDGE, ACHIEVEMENT, SERVICE, INTEGRITY, QUALITY, HONOR, EXCELLENCE, and COMMUNITY.
ANTI-HAZING POLICY
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. strictly prohibits hazing in any form whether physical or mental as a term or condition of membership in the organization. Hazing is illegal and a crime in most jurisdictions. Candidates to the organization should participate only in the sanctioned membership process of the fraternity. Candidates must not agree to submit to hazing in order to obtain fraternity membership.
Pledging has been officially abolished as a means of obtaining membership in Alpha Phi Alpha, and pledge “lines” have been officially abolished by the fraternity. Candidates must not submit themselves, or agree to submit themselves, to any membership activities that are prohibited by the fraternity. Members of Alpha Phi Alpha are forbidden from requiring any candidate to engage in prohibited membership activities. Members of Alpha Phi Alpha are not authorized to require any candidate to engage in prohibited membership activities.
All official contact and correspondence to the candidate regarding membership intake will come from the Corporate Headquarters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. via the director of membership services. The only official and sanctioned contact regarding intake is outlined for the candidate in the fraternity’s description of the membership process. Candidates should only participate in membership activities when the date, time and place have been established by the Corporate Headquarters. Furthermore, no individual member or chapter of the fraternity may require additional or different terms or conditions of membership for a candidate or group of candidates. Candidates should immediately report any infraction or irregularity in membership intake to the Corporate Headquarters.
Eligibility for Alumni Chapter Membership
Any male holder of an earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university may be presented as a candidate for membership in an alumni chapter provided that he:
Has been minimally conferred a 4-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution (includes accredited online university)
Is of good character
Is registered to vote, if eligible and qualified
Is sponsored by a member in good standing from the chapter in which the candidate is seeking membership
